Weekend Preview: at Jax State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — Sam Houston will travel to Jax State for its final road trip of the season this weekend at Jana McGinnis Field.

The Bearkats (25-23, 12-9 CUSA) are tied for third with Jax State in the Conference USA rankings. Sam Houston can lock down a spot in the league's postseason tournament with a sweep of the Gamecocks this weekend and NM State loses one of its three games against Middle Tennessee.

The Kats secured win in their final midweek clash of the season on Tuesday against Lamar in 3-2 victory. Sam Houston also went 1-2 against Liberty last weekend.

Jax State leads the all-time series 4-3 with the last matchup ending in 5-3 loss to the Cardinals on May 4, 2024 in Huntsville. This will be the Kats' first trip to Jacksonville in the program's history.

The Bearkats have seen a surge in power at the plate, having hit a home run in nine of their last ten games. Abigail Young leads the conference with a 1.76 ERA and has done well for the Kats with a 4-2 in CUSA play.
