DENTON — Sam Houston dropped its first match of the season 2-0 on the road at North Texas on Sunday evening.
The Bearkats (0-1-1) managed just three shots on goal in their second straight match away from Huntsville to open the season. The Mean Green (1-1) also only had three shots on goal but made the most of it.
North Texas struck early in the first half to get on the board. Sam Houston keeper
Katie Bahn didn't have much of a chance to make a stop on the shot as it was placed perfectly to the far-right side to get past her in the 14
th minute.
UNT made it 2-0 with another fast score to begin the second half. Once again, the Mean Green had a great scoring opportunity that Bahn could not do much with, but she made a solid effort to get to it in the 49
th minute.
The Bearkats return home for their first match at Pritchett Field this season on Thursday when Houston makes the trip up the interstate. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
