Kats finish tenth in Red Raider Invitational

Lubbock – The Sam Houston women's golf team finished tenth in the Red Raider Invitational at the Rawls course on Wednesday.
 
The Bearkats shot 22-over par in the final round as they ended the day with +55 over 54 holes. Francesca Sumcad placed second overall after having five birdies in the final round, capping her week with 70-74-71 to be one under. Amelia Guo finished 12th at eight over with a birdie on the 14th hole and 76-72-76 on her scorecard.
 
In the end, the host Texas Tech took the team title, finishing 12-over par. The next closest team to the Raiders was Houston Christian shooting +24.
 
Bomyeong Lee shot 82-75-81 placing 66th overall. Gracie Heinle finished 76th after shooting two birdies in the back nine of the final round to shoot 81-81-82. Shanna Sandoval shot a birdie on the 4th hole of the final round to shoot 78-84-86.
 
The Bearkats will be back in action in two weeks for the University of Oklahoma Intercollegiate at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.
 
The tournament will begin Monday, October 6, and is hosted by Oklahoma.
