Kats sneak past Bulldogs with late goal

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston defeat Louisiana Tech 1-0 to get their first conference win of the season at Pritchett Field on Sunday.
The defense for both teams was the highlight of the first half with only seven total shots taken. The Bearkats had five shots and two corners after going back and forth with the Bulldogs..
Sam Houston (4-3-2, 1-0-1 CUSA) found a way to finally break the stalemate in the second half. Tiana Johnson sent a shot on the goal that bounced off the goalie in the box and Ellie Morgan punched it in at the 87th minute to take the lead.
The Bulldogs tried to get something going, but it was no match for Hannah Bolin, keeper Katie Bahn and the Kats' defense. Sam Houston allowed seven shots total with only two on goal.
Bahn had two saves, keeping the Bulldogs scoreless. The offense was just as strong taking 19 shots, 12 shots on goal and four corners.
Sam Houston will be back in action at Pritchett Field on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. for their match against Middle Tennessee.
