HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston baseball kick off a 4-game road week on Tuesday with a midweek clash against Lamar at Vincent-Beck Stadium.
The game was originally scheduled for a 6:05 p.m. first pitch, but has now been moved up to a 4:05 p.m. start. The game is set to be aired on ESPN+ with Dan Gresham and Harold Mann on the call from the heart of the Golden Triangle. Tuesday's game can also be followed via Statbroadcast or by following @BearkatsBSB on Instagram and X.
Sam Houston has dropped four in a row after a tough week that included a midweek loss at Baylor and a sweep at home at the hands of red-hot Jax State who has now won 17 of its last 18 games overall. Lamar, meanwhile, stands at 12-8 overall after having most recently taken two of three games from I-10 rival McNeese over the weekend.
The Bearkats continue to show marked improvement on the mound with a team ERAÂ of 4.66Â for the year. They will go with freshman right-hander Gabe Winans for the start against the Cardinals, his first start of the season. He has made four appearances out of the bullpen, three of which have been scoreless, with 10 total strikeouts and only one walk allowed in his 6.0 frames of work.
The Cardinals will go with righty Blayne Fritcher as a starter for Tuesday's contest.
