HARAHAN, La. — Sam Houston found its stride at the right moment to stay alive at the CUSA Bowling Championships on Thursday at Colonial Lanes.
The No. 8 Bearkats came back from a 0-1 deficit when they fell behind No. 10 Wright State with a 1,037 loss in traditional play. Sam Houston was in control in game two with a 1,123-944 win as the Kats rallied to take the match 3-1 to advance in the contender's bracket.
"First and foremost we need to get out of the gates on the fresh with more confidence," head coach Brad Hagen said. "With this format we only have 10 minutes to break the competition pair down so, whatever you're going to do, you better do it well and confidently.
"We're going to go with our fresh contingency plan and see what happens, but we have to patient," he added. "We're still alive, and that's all that matters."
Sam Houston will face No. 11 Tulane on Saturday with the chance to move on in the tournament. Each round of the tournament will be streamed live on ESPN+.
