
Bearkats split series against the Owls on day 2

KENNESAW, Ga. — Sam Houston fell 7-5 to Kennesaw State in Game two of the series Saturday afternoon at Bailey Park.Â
The Bearkats (20-14, 5-3 Conference USA) gave up an early lead in the first inning when Kennesaw State's Ana Gore hit a two-run home run. Sam Houston answered in the second, tying the game on a two-run single by Bella Perez.Â
The Owls (6-21, 2-6 CUSA) held the Bearkats scoreless over the next three innings, allowing just one hit while extending their lead on another home run by Gore.Â
Sam Houston cut into the deficit in the sixth inning. Kinsey Hobbs doubled, and Sophia Lundstrom followed with a two-run single to pull the Bearkats within two runs.Â
The Bearkats carried momentum into the seventh but were unable to complete the comeback as the Owls secured the 7-5 win.Â
Lundstrom led Sam Houston with three hits and three RBIs. Perez added two hits and two RBIs.Â
Sam Houston will conclude the series at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 22, at Bailey Park. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
