Tiffany Sanchez named CUSA Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS — Sam Houston sophomore Tiffany Sanchez earned Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honors, the league announced Monday, after a dominant performance in the Bearkats' conference-opening series against UTEP.

The right-hander from Del Valle High School pitched nine total innings during the series and played a key role in Sam Houston's success against the Miners.

Sanchez highlighted the weekend with the first no-hitter of her career in the series opener. She struck out three and allowed just one runner to reach base in the performance, marking the Bearkats' first no-hitter since 2021.

She also appeared in the final two innings of the series finale, striking out five while surrendering just two hits.

Sanchez becomes the first Bearkat to earn a Conference USA weekly honor this season.
