Kats eliminated on Day 1 of CUSA Championship

YOUNGSVILLE, La. — The Sam Houston beach volleyball team had its 2026 season come to a close on Thursday, dropping a pair of matches on the first day of the Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship at Sugar Beach.

The Kats (2-21) entered the event as the No. 9 seed and held a 2-1 lead on No. 8 Tarleton in the first match of the day before the Texans rallied to take the final two courts in three sets to advance with a 3-2 win. No. 7 UTEP later downed the Kats, 3-0, to move on in the double-elimination event.
