MIAMI, Fla. — Sam Houston will face FIU at FIU Softball Stadium this weekend in its final road series before the Conference USA Tournament.Â
The Bearkats (29-20, 13-8 CUSA) had their final nonconference midweek matchup against Houston canceled due to weather. The game will not be rescheduled.Â
Sam Houston is coming off a series win at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana, where Veronica Harrison took over the Conference USA lead in home runs with 17. Tiffany Sanchez earned her 11th win of the season with a complete-game performance in the opener, striking out six and issuing no walks. Kendall Daniel provided relief in Games 2 and 3, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts in Game 2 before tossing a no-hit, no-walk, no-run outing in the series finale.Â
The Bearkats will now take on FIU (29-16, 11-10 CUSA) in a three-game series as conference play nears its conclusion. The two programs first met in 2024, with Sam Houston holding a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Bearkats have won each of the previous two season series and will look to extend that streak this weekend.Â
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday. Game 2 is set for 4 p.m. Saturday, and the series finale is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday. All games will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
