Trey Brainerd joined Sam Houston in 2021 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer working specifically with Bearkat Baseball.
Prior to coming to Sam Houston, Brainerd spent two years with Texas Southern University as Assistant Director of Sports Medicine. He worked with the Women’s Basketball and Volleyball programs. He also spent time as a PRN Athletic Trainer at Houston Methodist Willowbrook.
Brainerd graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Towson University in May 2014. He then went on to become a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Southern Illinois University where he worked with the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams. He graduated from SIU with a Master of Science and Education Degree in Sports Studies.
Brainerd is a Texas Licensed Athletic Trainer and is board certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
