Joining head coach K.C. Keeler's staff in February, 2014, as wide receivers coach, Terence Archer also serves as the team's passing game coordinator and has been part of an attack that has produced more than 35,000 total yards over the past six years.

Archer has helped Sam Houston roll up a 69-22 record in his time and claim the 2020 FCS national title. The Kats have also reached the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs three times and the quarterfinals once during his tenure. The Kats have also won three Southland Conference championship, defeated 19 top 25-ranked opponents and finished ranked among the top five teams in the final FCS national rankings in four of his seven years on staff.

The Bearkats' 7,975 yards in 2015 was a Southland Conference season record and ranked third all-time in NCAA Division I FCS history. The Kats led the nation in total offense and first downs and stood No. 5 in scoring and No. 16 in passing in 2015. The Kats were ranked among the top 25 FCS teams nationally in scoring and total offense in 2014.

In 2016 Archer's receiving corps produced a pair of 1,000-yard receivers in Yedidiah Louis and Nathan Stewart, while Davion Davis put up 960 yards as the Kats nearly became just the third team in the history of FCS football to produce three 1,000-yard receivers in the same season. That effort help the Kats average 49.5 points per game, leading the FCS, on their way to a 12-1 record and a berth in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs.

Seven wide receivers have earned all-Southland Conference honors under Archer, including Louis, Stewart and Davis in 2016. Stewart became the first freshman 1,000-yard receiver in program history in 2016 and finished third in the voting for the Jerry Rice Award, given to the national freshman of the year. Two years later Davis was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year and finished up his career as the SLC's all-time leader with 40 touchdown passes, while Stewart became just the fourth receiver in FCS history to total 1,000 yards receiving as a freshman, sophomore and junior before setting the Southland Conference record for career receiving yards as a senior.

Sam Houston rolled up 3,287 yards and 22 touchdowns in the air as the Bearkats earned the Southland Conference championship in 2014. The Kats followed up with 4,158 yards and 33 scores in 2015 and averaged 49.5 points per game in 2016.

Before coming to Huntsville, Archer served six seasons as an assistant coach at Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J. He tutored some of the program's top receivers including school record holder Neal Sterling, all-conference Tristan Roberts and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Chris Hogan.

In 2013 Sterling totaled 57 receptions for 647 yards and 6 touchdowns.  He tied a school record with 12 reception in a game versus Lehigh and ranks third at Monmouth in career receptions (147) and touchdown catches (16). Sterling was a Jerry Rice Award finalist as a freshman when he totaled 677 yards receiving.

Roberts caught 55 passes for 714 yards and five touchdowns in 2012 to lead a Monmouth receiving corps that accounted for 14 touchdowns and almost 1,900 all-purpose yards.

Hogan played his only season of football under Archer in 2010.

Previously, Archer coached at LaSalle. He served as recruiting coordinator and running backs coach in 2005, linebackers and special teams coordinator in 2006 and 2007. From 2002 to 2005 he was League Operations Coordinator for the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Archer played football for Monmouth from 1997 to 2000, graduating in 2001. He is a native of Abington, Pa.

Archer and his wife Beth are the parents of daughters Bridget and Elimy.
