Phil Steele preseason all-Southland Conference third team ... led FCS in total passing yards and ranked 16th in passing efficiency ... ranked second in FCS with 20 total touchdown passes ... named SLC Offensive Player of the Week after completing 25 of 40 passes for 428 yards and 2 touchdowns in win over No. 18 Southeastern Louisiana (2/27) to open the season ... also added 88 rushing yards for 516 yards of total offense, a mark that is second most in the FCS over the course of hte spring and fall seasons ... his 428 yards passing was the third time in 6 career starts he has surpassed 400 yards passing ... also had a career-long 55-yard rush on the first play from scrimmage vs SLU ... threw for 366 yards and career-best 6 touchdowns in dominating win over No. 7 Nicholls ... threw for 343 yards and 2 touchdowns in blowout win at Lamar (3/20), but did more damage with his legs by rushing for 4 touchdowns in less than 3 quarters of work ... the 4 rushing touchdowns was 1 short of the single-game school record and just the eighth time in school history for a player to rush for 4 scores in a game ... threw for 312 yards and 2 touchdowns in win over Northwestern State (4/1) ... threw for 202 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 92 yards with a 64 yard rush, his longest of the season in win over McNeese (4/10) ... tallied 370 yards with a touchdown through the air and rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown in win over UIW (4/17) ... went 25 for 37 for 227 yards and a touchdown in FCS Quarterfinals win over North Dakota State (5/2), rushing for game-winning touchdown in fourth quarter ... came alive in second half of FCS Semifinals vs James Madison (5/8), finishing with 218 passing yards and a score, along with 55 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground ... completed 20 passes for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns, rushing for another 54 yards, in FCS Championship game win over South Dakota State (5/16) ... that included hitting Ife Adeyi for a 10-yard, game-winning touchdown with just 16 seconds to play on 3rd & Goal.
2019 Season
Played in eight games, making six starts at quarterback ... missed four games due to injury suffered vs McNeese ... completed 58.8 percent of his passes for the year, throwing for 1,733 yards with 12 TDs and 5 interceptions ... also rushed for 112 yard and 4 scores on the ground ... had true breakout game in 45-6 win over UIW (9/21) when he completed 29 of his 44 passes for 531 yards and 5 touchdowns ... the 531 yards passing was the second most in a single game in SHSU history ... that performance earned him Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors (9/23) ... closed season with another big game, completing 34 of 57 passes for 420 yards and 4 touchdowns in a win over Houston Baptist (11/23) ... saw significant time behind center in season opener vs New Mexico (8/31) when he passed for 185 yards and a touchdown, along with rushing for another score vs the Lobos ... followed that up by rushing for 2 touchdowns vs Oklahoma Panhandle State (9/7) ... accounted for 2 scores, 1 in the air and 1 on the ground at North Dakota (9/14) ... returned from injury to lead Kats to win at Abilene Christian (11/9) with 260 yards passing and a touchdown.
2018 Season
Played in seven games as a dual-threat quarterback option for the Bearkats as a redshirt freshman … threw first career touchdown in Battle of the Piney Woods win over Stephen F. Austin (10/6) when he connected on a double pass with fellow quarterback Ty Brock for a 32-yard score to break the game open … had a season-long 14-yard run at Nicholls (9/22) … scored first career touchdown on a 9-yard run on opening drive of win at Houston Baptist (11/17) in season finale.

Led The Woodlands HS to 2016 Class 6A Division I state championship game ... led Highlanders to 10-2 record and area round of Class 6A Division 1 playoffs as a junior ... son of The Woodlands HS head coach Mark Schmid ... threw for 3,629 yards, 46 TD and only 4 INT as a senior ... also rushed for 1,074 yards and 15 TD ... threw for 1,094 yards and 11 TD as junior ... holds school records with 4,753 career passing yards and 57 TD ... 2016 District 12-6A MVP ... 2015 District 12-6A first team quarterback ... 2016 Montgomery County Courier Player of the Year ... 2016 Class 6A AP all-state honorable mention ... 2016 Houston Touchdown Club Player of the Year finalist ...
