Angela Johnson serves as an assistant coach for the Bearkats this spring.

Angela Johnson joins the Sam Houston State softball coaching staff after an outstanding career at Butler University.

Johnson was a utility player for the Bulldogs, seeing action at shortstop and in the outfield. She started 106 games for Butler during her career, hitting seven doubles, one triple, and four run runs. Her final season, she posted a .271 batting average and a .346 slugging percentage.

She also was an outstanding student, graduating cum laude in 2006 with a 3.6 grade point average with a biology major and chemistry minor. She is working on her master of science in forensic science at Sam Houston State.

A graduate of Klein High School, she was a Who’s Who Among American High School Students and was a member of the National Honor Society. On the softball field, she was team captain and earned All-District honors.
