Casey Leatherman joined Sam Houston Women's Golf during the 2025-26 season, bringing a championship pedigree as both a collegiate golfer and successful high school coach to the Bearkats' staff.
A 4-year standout at Tarleton Leatherman earned All-Lone Star Conference honors and helped lead her team to back-to-back Lone Star Conference titles as a freshman and sophomore and twice earned all-LSC postseason honors. Along the way she earned 19 top-20 finishes and eight top-10s and landed on the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll before her final season of competition was ultimately cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leatherman won a silver medal at the 2018 LSC Championships held at Diamondback GC in Abilene, finishing with a score of 141 (-1). That effort was anchored by a school-record and career-low round of 66 as she helped lead her squad to the title, one of seven total tournament titles she was a part of during her Texan career.Â
Prior to joining the Sam Houston coachign staff, Leatherman built one of the most successful golf programs in Texas at Georgetown ISD during her 5-year sting at Georgetown. Since 2023, her teams have won five UIL District Championships, produced 22 All-District medalists, advanced six teams to the UIL Regional Championships, and qualified two teams for the UIL State Championship, including a 5th-place team and 3rd-place Individual State Championship finish in 2024. Â
A Huntsville native and former Texas Class 5A State Championship, Leatherman is passionate about developing student-athletes on and off the course through a culture centered on competitive excellence, academic achievement, and personal growth.Â
