A letter winner the past two seasons for the Bearkat women's tennis team, Lauren Janak will serve this season as graduate assistant coach for Sam Houston State.
Janak compiled a 18-8 record at number three doubles during her two seasons. She was part of two the most successful women's tennis teams in Sam Houston history. The 2006 squad compiled an 11-9 season mark and finished third in the Southland Conference race with a 6-4 league record. The 2007 team went 12-5 overall and produced SHSU's best Southland record ever, going 9-2 to finish as SLC runner-up.
Janak came to Sam Houston State as a transfer from Lee College where she earned a No. 25 national ranking in singles and No. 4 ranking in doubles. An honor graduate and National Honor Society member at El Campo High School, Janak was her team's Most Valuable Player four years. She was a three time All-District performer and regional doubles champion and state qualifier in doubles her junior and senior seasons.
