A three-year letter winner for the Bearkats, Olivia Battye will assist in coaching the 2015-16 Sam Houston women's tennis squad.

Battye played at number one singles as a junior and a senior for the Bearkats the past two seasons. She also played at number one and two doubles those two years. She red-shirted in 2013 after rolling up a 6-3 dual match singles mark during the 2012 campaign. Her singles win in the 2012 Southland Conference opening round was crucial in the Kats' upset of Texas State.

Battye came to SHSU as a transfer from Troy University in Alabama. She was a member of Great Britian Under 14 natinoal team and participated in tennis, volleyball, field hockey and soccer at Birkenhead High School in Thornton Hough, Wirral, Liverpool.
