Nicole Leonard joins the Bearkat women's basketball staff as a graduate assistant for 2009-10.
Leonard is a 2009 graduate of Mercer University in Macon, GA, where she was a four year letter winner for the Bears. Leonard played for Sam Houston head coach Brenda Welch-Nichols her freshman season at Mercer in 2006.
A 5-11 forward for the Bears, Leonard played in more than 100 games at Mercer. Her top performances included 16 points against Kennesaw State and 12 rebounds versus Bethune-Cookman.
Leonard played for Saint Mary's Dominican High School in Gretna, LA. She earned All-District honors as both a junior and senior. She averaged 9.1 points on a 39-3 squad that reached the Louisiana state finals in 2005. She scored 7.2 points per contest and made 56 steals on a 35-4 squad that also finished as Louisiana Class 5A state runner-up.
The oldest daughter of Gregory and Barbara Leonard, she was born in New Orleans, LA. She earned her Mercer degree in sociology.
