Women win team, individual titles at Nicholls State Classic

HOUMA, LA -- Led by junior Wendy Joyner of Montgomery who won the individual medalist title as well, the Sam Houston State women's golf team won the team championship at the rain-shortened Nicholls State Colonel Classic on the 6,090-yard, par 72 course at Ellendale Country Club.
The tournament, scheduled for 54 holes, was stopped after 18 holes due to rain washing out Monday's first two rounds.
The victory represents the fifth intercollegiate tournament team title for the Bearkats in the past two seasons and the second for
Joyner won the individual title with a three-under 69. Jennifer Heinz, senior from Mounds View, MN, was fourth with an even par 72.
Stefanie Page, a junior from The Woodlands, placed sixth with a 74. Landa Stewart was 11th and Kate Hathway 30th with a 77 and 80, respectively, to complete Bearkat scoring.
