Men's golf wins tournament at Kingston OK

KINGSTON, OKÂ -- With four golfers finishing among the top 20 individuals and Fergal Rafferty claiming the individual medalist championship, Sam Houston State won its second men's golf tournament title in three tries this fall at the Texoma Championship on the par 72, 7,085-yard course at Chickasaw Point Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.
Sam Houston State won the tournament by 24 strokes, totaling 292-285-303--880 to finish ahead of Midwestern State 904, Central Oklahoma 905, Southwestern Oklahoma 909, Texas A&M-Commerce 914, Southeastern Oklahoma 926, East Central Oklahoma 932 and West Texas A&M 952.
Rafferty took the individual medalist trophy with a 54-hole score of 71-69-71--212 to finish five strokes under par.
Travis Klutts of Midwestern State placed second (72-72-72--216). Sam Houston's Scott Kelly (71-69-79--219) was third, Beau Willis (73-73-76--222) was fourth and Caleb LeNorman (77-78-75--230) placed 18th. Kyle Williams (77-74-89--240) finished 35th.
