Fergal Rafferty Named SLC Men's Golfer of the Month

Fergal Rafferty of Sam Houston State has been named as the Southland Conference men's golfer of the month for October
Rafferty a junior from Carrickmore, Omagh, Northern Ireland, led Sam Houston State to three tournament team titles in three events, finishing as the individual medalist champion in two of the tournaments.
He fired a score of 213 with rounds of 71, 69 and 73, to win the Texoma Shootout and won the UTSA Invitational with a score of 220 (74-71-75).
Rafferty also finished sixth at the Elkins Lake Classic, which was hosted by Sam Houston State, with a three-round total of 212 (71-71-70).
In winning the UTSA Invitational, Sam Houston defeated five other Southland teams (Central Arkansas, Stephen F. Austin, Southeastern Louisiana, UTSA and McNeese State). Averaging an even par 72.0 stroke average for the season, he has helped Sam Houston has win four of the five events it has played this fall.
