San Antonio, TX - The Sam Houston State men's golf team placed ninth out of 14 teams in the Bearkats first intercollegiate tournament of the 2009 spring season Tuesday at the UTSA Invitational at Oak Hills Country Club.

The Kats fired a 54-hole total of 301-292-294?887 team score. Texas Tech won the team championship with a team total of 824.

Texas-Arlington was the team runner-up with an 844 total followed by Texas State-San Marcos 860, Oklahoma 866, Illinois State 867, DePaul 873, Stephen F. Austin 875, and Wichita State 877.

Finishing behind the Bearkats in the team standings were Louisiana-Monroe 889, Texas-San Antonio 895, Central Arkansas 896, McNeese 920 and Air Force 929.

Sam Houston individual scores and finishes were Beau Willis 24th 218, Fergal Rafferty 27th 219, Scott Kelly 30th 220, J. R. Hurley 59th 230 and Grant Duffy 72nd 238.
