Men's golf 4th in Kauai

Led by Beau Willis who posted his third top 10 individual finish of the 2008-09 season, the Sam Houston State men's golf team placed fourth out of 11 teams at the Kauai Collegiate Cup tournament held by Western Kentucky University on the island of Kauai in Hawaii Saturday.
The Bearkats produced a team total of 294-292-296--882 to finish 22 strokes behind East Tennessee State and Georgia Southern. The two teams tied for the team title with identical 860 totals. Wayland Baptist was third at 879.
Logan Blondell of Georgia Southern won the individual medalist championship with a eight-under total of 70-69-69--208.
Willis led Sam Houston with a 54-hole score of 74-72-72--218 to tie for seventh place.
Other Bearkat finishes and scores were Caleb LeNorman 14th 73-75-73--221; Fergal Rafferty 20th 77-71-75--223; Scott Kelly 20th 72-74-77--223 and John Hurley 31st 75-76-76--227.
Next action for the Sam Houston State men's golf team will be the Arkansas-Little Rock Classic on March 30-31. The Bearkats' 2008-09 season will climax on April 27-29 with the annual Southland Conference tournament to be held in Kerrville, Texas.
