Women's golf third at McNeese

The final golf tournament of the 2010 fall schedule for the Sam Houston women's squad was shortened to an 18-hole event after the McNeese State Cowgirl Fall Invitational's second and third rounds were rained out.
After nearly a five-hour rain and lightning delay, the first round was completed late Monday at the par 72, 6,255-yard course at the Lake Charles Country Club. Tuesday's play was canceled due to continued rain.
The Sam Houston women's golf team finished third in the team standings with a 299 overall score. Houston Baptist leads the competition with a 293 score. Lamar is in second place at 297.
Meghann Stevens of Sam Houston finished second in the individual competition with an even par round of 72. Balbina Guajardo of HBU was the only player in the field to score under par in the first round with a 70.
Other Sam Houston scores included Shelby Hardy seventh at 74, Meghan Musk 13th 76, Jessica Borth 16th with a 77, Landa Stewart 20th shooting a 78 and Jenna Stene 34th with an 82.
Redlands finished fourth in the team competition with a 311 total, followed by McNeese State's two teams at 312 and 315, Stephen F. Austin 321 and McLennan 326.
