Men's golf third after Southland 2nd round

Springfield, La -- Southeastern Louisiana charged past the other contenders with a three under par second round to take the lead at the 36-hole mark of the 2010 Southland Conference men's golf championship Tuesday.
The tournament is being played on the 7,234-yard par 72 course at Carter Plantation Golf Club.
The Lions are three-over for the tournament with a 294-285--579 score. Monday's first round co-leaders Central Arkansas and Sam Houston dropped to second and third respectively. UCA is five over for the tournament with a 291-290--581 total. Sam Houston dropped to 14 over for the event with a two-day score of 291-299--590.
Stephen F. Austin stands in fourth place at 591, followed by Lamar 594, UT-Arlington 597, UTSA 606, Texas State 608, Nicholls 628 and McNeese 636.
Alvario Arizabaleta of Southeastern Louisiana leads the individual medalist competition with a five-under 72-67--139 total. Gideon Pienaar of Central Arkansas is in second place at 69-73--142.
Sam Houston's Fergal Rafferty is tied with three other golfers for third place. Rafferty fired a 73-71--144 the first two day.
Other Sam Houston scores included Garrett Driver seventh with a 72-75--147, Justin McKay 20th at 71-79--150, Scott Kelly 27th with a 75-76--151 and Beau Willis 34th 78-77--155.
The three-day 54-hole championship will finish with the final round on Wednesday.
