Men's golf rallies for 4th place finish

The tournament was held on the par 72, 7,304-yard course at Waterchase Golf Club in Fort Worth.
Twenty-six strokes off the pace and standing 18th out of the 19 teams in the event after the first 18 holes Monday, the Bearkats put together totals of seven-under and three-under in the final two rounds to place fourth with a team total 302-281-285--868.
North Texas won the event with a 20-under total of 276-280-288--844.
Sam Houston's James Glenn finished among the top 10 individuals with a 74-69-71--214 showing. Curtis Donahoe of North Texas (69-67-73--209) and Derek Plucienski of Southern Mississippi (68-65-76--209) tied for the individual medalist championship.
Following the UNT Eagles in the standings were Southern Mississippi 865, Louisiana Tech 867, Sam Houston 868 and UT-Arlington 869.
Santa Clara and the UTA Orange squad tied for sixth with 872 totals. Rounding out the field were Rice 874, Texas State 877, Texas Wesleyan and Central Arkansas 880, Wichita State 882, Nicholls 890, Stephen F. Austin 895, Southern Illinois 902, UTSA 904, Houston Baptist 913, McNeese St. 915 and Texas-Pan American 921.
Other Sam Houston scores and finishes included Blaine Weiteman 30th 79-69-72--220, Albert Miner 37th 76-71-74--221, Justin McKay 43rd 76-78-68--222, Kort O'Leary 51st 76-72-76--224 and Grant Duffy 81st 76-78-76--230.
Sam Houston's next action will take the Bearkats to Tulsa Sept. 27-28 for the Oral Roberts Shootout.
