Women third at Memphis

Germantown, Tenn -- Led by Shelby Hardy and Jackie Smith, the Sam Houston women's golf team placed third in the 12-team field at the Memphis Women's Invitational Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament was held on the par 72, 6,287-yard course at Ridgeway Country Club.
Hardy finished third in the individual medalist standings with a 76-75-73--224 total. Marissa Steen of Memphis won the individual title with a 71-75-69--215 score.
Smith placed eighth with a 74-76-78--228. Other Sam Houston scores and finishes were Meghan Musk 19th 74-80-79--233, Jessica Borth 29th 78-80-79--237, Christina Stringham 50th 81-80-86--247 and Sarah St. John 68th 92-92-86--270.
Samford and host Memphis tied for the team championship, both with 54-hole totals of 913. Sam Houston was third with a 922 total followed by Montana 923, Xavier 929, Rollins 939, A&M-Corpus Christi 942, Central Arkansas 946, Boise State 947, Butler 954, Alabama-Birmingham 959 and Austin Peay 1,005.
