Sam Houston took the doubles point but Lamar swept the singles to hand the Bearkat tennis team a 6-1 loss in the squad's Southland Conference opener Saturday.
The match was delayed by rains in the Beaumont area.
Sheridan Currie and Cally Woerner paired to win the number two doubles in a tiebreaker 7-5. Imke Jagau and Natalie Petaia teams to take the number three doubles 9-7 to earn the doubles point for Sam Houston.
Nadia Dubyanskaya at number three singles and Petaia at number six singles both went three sets.
Sam Houston takes on McNeese State in Lake Charles Sunday.
