
Meghan Musk fifth at Southland

Corpus Christi - Sam Houston's Meghan Musk finished tied for fifth place in the individual medalist standings to lead the Bearkats at the Southland Conference women's goal championships which concluded Wednesday.
The Bearkats placed fifth in the team competition with a 24-over par 54-hole total of 320-309-312-941. The team total was the sixth best score by a Sam Houston team in the Southland tournament which began in 2002.
Musk's fifth place finish with a 12-over score of 78-72-78-228 marks the 11th time a Sam Houston golfer has placed among the top five individuals in a Southland event.
UTSA won the team championship with a three-day score of 900, just nine strokes over par. Lamar was the runner-up at 907, followed by Texas State 925, A&M-Corpus Christi 930, Sam Houston 941, Central Arkansas 954, McNeese State 962 and Stephen F. Austin 977.
Fabiola Arriaga of UTSA and Stine Pedersen of Lamar tied for individual medalist honors, but with 54-hole scores of 223.
Other Sam Houston finishes and scores were Shelby Hardy 17th 80-77-76-233; Jessica Borth 18th 79-80-76-235; Landa Stewart 30th 83-80-82-245 and Meghan Stevens 39th 89-80-85-254.
The tournament was played on the par 72, 6,098-yard course at Corpus Christi Country Club.
