Un-BEE-lievable Finish

Arlington - The UTA Waterchase Invitational had a unique finish Tuesday when the event was called off due to bees.
The tournament was stopped about an hour into final round play when a limb fell of a tree at the 18th green of the par 72, 7,289-yard course at Waterchase Golf Club to expose a large bee hive.

That gave the team championship to Wichita State with a 294-276-570 total. WSU's Rafael Becker took individual medalist honors with a 75-64-139.
Sam Houston was declared the team runner-up after the "Bee-Out." The Bearkats' Scott Kelly was individual runner-up after carding a three-under 73-68-141 Monday.
Other Bearkat finishes and scores were Blaine Weiterman third (72-70-142), Kort O'Leary 17th (74-72-146), James Glenn 30th (76-73-149) , Garrett Driver 36th (72-78-150) and Justin McKay 79th (80-78-158).
Host UT-Arlington and Arkansas State tied for third place in the team standings, both with 584 team totals. Louisiana Tech was fifth at 589, followed by Louisiana-Monroe 594, Kansas State 595, Southern Illinois 602, UTSA, Texas Wesleyan, Mercer and Southern Mississippi 603, Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin 606, Houston Baptist and UT-Arlington Orange 610, Nicholls 622, McNeese State 631 and Texas-Pan American 634
Next action for the Sam Houston State men's golf team will be October 3-4 when the Kats travel to the Louisiana Tech Bulldog Intercollegiate in Ruston, La.
