Cabra Southland Golfer of the Month

Sam Houston State junior Zach Cabra was named the Southland Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for September, the league office announced Wednesday.
Cabra paced Sam Houston to two top-10 finishes last month, including a first-place finish at the Kansas State Jim Colbert Intercollegiate in Manhattan, Kan., Sept. 20-Oct. 1. At the Colbert Intercollegiate, the junior transfer from McKinney, Texas (McKinney H.S.), put together rounds of 73-67-73–213 to earn top individual medalist honors.
Earlier in the month, Cabra set a school and course record at the Southern Mississippi Fred Hall Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss., Sept. 9-10, with a second round 62. Cabra helped the Bearkats finish 10th as a team as he tied for third. For the month, Cabra averaged 69.7 strokes in six rounds, including the low round of 62.
Honorable mention this month goes to Houston Baptist junior Preston Stanley, Central Arkansas junior Pep Angles and Southeastern Louisiana sophomore Eamon Bradley. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
