Kats finish 15th at New Mexico State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Freshman Klein Klotz tied for ninth place to lead the Sam Houston State men's golf team to a 13th place finish at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State. Klotz shot a final round 68 to finish in the top-10 for the third time in his young Bearkat career.
The Lake Travis High School product fired his second-best round and second round under-70 in 12 played this year. Klotz finished two over par for the tournament.
The hosts New Mexico State won the event by six strokes. Colorado State was second, Northern Colorado was third, Wichita State was fourth and UTEP rounded out the top-five.
Senior Albert Miner, who shot a second round 69, finished 26th in the field after a 77 in the final round.
Zach Cabra, who was top-10 nationally in stroke average, hadn't fired a round above 73 prior to this week. The junior transfer shot 75-75-76 and finished 53rd.
Logan Boatner (73-77-80) was tied for 71st and Dennis Reiner (86-81-82) was 93rd.
The Kats are back in action next week at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in Waco.
