The
Sam Houston (8-8) baseball team lost 18-4 to Dallas Baptist (10-8) in the first
game of the three game series in Dallas.
The
Kats started the game with a 2-0 lead going into the second inning but that's
when the Patriots started to rally. DBU scored two runs in the bottom of the
second to tie it up and went on to score 15 combined runs in the fourth and
fifth innings.
Sam
Houston was led by Hayden Simerly who went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs and
Anthony Azar who went 4-for-5.
Logan
Boyd started for the Kats, giving up 10 runs off of nine hits in four innings.
The Bearkats put an additional two runs up in the fifth.
Jake
Johansen would take the victory (2-2) for the Patriots throwing six innings,
giving up four runs off of nine hits.
DBU
was led by Michael Miller who went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI
and centerfielder Collins Boomer who went 2-for-6 adding two runs and 5 RBI.
The
Kats play Friday at 2 p.m. with the finale Saturday at 1 p.m. Cody Dickson will get the start for SHSU
Friday.
