Men Fifth at Southland Championship

McKinney, Texas – Led by Albert Miner who finished tied for 11th in the individual medalist competition, Sam Houston placed fifth at the 2013 Southland Conference men's golf championship.
Miner shot a 54-hole total of 229 with rounds of 78, 76 and 75 on the par 72, 7,346-yard layout at Stone Bridge Country Club.
Southeastern Louisiana pulled away on the final day of competition to take home the title, with a 301-304-288-893 total. Central Arkansas finished second with a 299-308-299-906 scorecard.
Lamar placed third (307-315-297-919) and SFA (313-307-312-932) was fourth.Finishing behind the Bearkats were Oral Roberts (317-318-308-943), Nicholls State (322-315-311-948), and McNeese State (325-317-310-952).
Justin McKay posted the low score for Sam Houston Wednesday, with two birdies and three bogies for a one-over total of 73. McKay was tied for 16th (80-79-73-232), JT Taylor was tied for 28th (82-81-78-241), Chase Chapman was tied for 30th (79-78-86-243) and Logan Boatner was 36th (85-79-83-247).
Rhys West of Southeastern Louisiana earned medalist honors after finishing four over. West was two strokes ahead of Pep Angles of Central Arkansas.
