HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Junior transfer Zach Cabra finished tied for third after shooting a school and course record 62 in the second round of the Sam Hall Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Mississippi.
Cabra was nine under on the par-71, 6,902 yard Hattiesburg Country Club course after firing a first round 73. He birdied 12 holes, including seven consecutive at one point. He fired a 70 in the final round to finish the tournament eight under par.
True freshman Klein Klotz's first collegiate round was an outstanding four-under, 67. Klotz had four birdies in the first round. He followed that up with a second round 72 and finished strong with a one-under 70 in the final round to place 13th.
Senior Albert Miner (73-71-79-223) and junior Logan Boatner (75-72-76-223) finished tied for 65th and freshman Kyle Hodges (77-82-81-240) was 86th.
The Bearkat men will have two weeks off before heading to the Kansas State Jim Colbert Invitational Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
