GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Sam Houston State women's golf team finished as the runners-up at the UAB Fall Beach Bash at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club. The Houston Baptist Huskies ran away with the tournament title on the final day.

For the second time this season, Houston Baptist pulled away from the Bearkats in the final round to take home the hardware. SHSU finished runner-up to the Huskies in the SHSU Harold Funston Intercollegiate earlier this month.

Senior Alisa White held a one-shot lead after the first round on the par-72, 6,246 yard Cypress-Marsh course. The Hereford product was in great shape after firing a 70 in the first round but fell to third after shooting a 75 in the second round.

Sophomore Paige Nelson, who started the season on fire, finished tied for fourth after firing a 73-73-146. Nelson finished the fall with a win at ULM, and a runner-up finish at Oral Roberts.

All five Bearkats finished inside the top-25 after Nicole Budnik, Brooke Fouts and Sarah Black each rose up the leaderboard with improved second rounds. Budnik (77-73-150) was tied for 17^th, Fouts (76-75-151) was tied for 20^th and Black (78-74-152) ended up tied for 24th.

This was the final event of the fall for the Bearkats. Sam Houston will open the spring at the Texas State Invitational played at Landa Park Golf Course in New Braunfels, February 15-16.
