Women finish 7th in shortened Texas State event

NEW BRAUNFELS -- Paige Nelson tied for ninth while the Sam Houston State women's golf team finished tied for seventh in a weather shortened Delta Gamma Challenge hosted by Texas State.
The final round of the tournament was cancelled due to increased windchill and balls moving on the green.
Nelson finished one over on the par 71, 6,006 yard Landa Park Golf Course. The sophomore fired a first-round 73 and a shot a one-under 70.
Idaho won the team championship after tiebreaking procedures. Arkansas-Little Rock wastied with the Vandals and finished runner-up. Houston finished third and the hosts Texas State were fourth. Houston Baptist and Lamar tied for fifth, while UTEP tied with the Kats for seventh.
Freshman Sarah Black (74-74) is tied for 32nd, Alisa White (72-77) is tied for 36th, Nicole Budnik (79-75) is tied for 53rd and Celeste Lo (74-82) is tied for 57th.
Due to tiebreaking procedures there was a three-way tie for individual medalists.
