Black & White share title at Islanders Classic

CORPUS CHRISTI -- The final results weren't exactly black and white, as freshman Sarah Black and senior Alisa White were a part of a five-way tie for medalist at the weather shortened Islanders Classic, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
White won the sudden death playoff, sinking a 30-foot birdie putt on the first hole.
The Bearkat team finished just three strokes away from ending in a three-way tie for first place. Sam Houston placed third behind Southland foes Central Arkansas and Lamar who tied for the team championship.
Originally scheduled for 54 holes Monday and Tuesday on the par 72, 6,093 yard Corpus Christi Country Club course, the event was shortened to 36 holes with 18 each day.
Paige Nelson (76-81-157) and Celeste Lo (82-75-157) finished tied for 23rd and Nicole Budnik (83-82-165) was tied for 55th.
Next up for the Bearkats is the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Invitational at Hattiesburg Country Club March 9-10.
