Cabra named Golfer of the Month

Sam Houston State senior Zach Cabra has been named the Southland Men's Golfer of the Month for October, the league office announced Wednesday.
Cabra capped off a great fall with three more top-5 finishes. He started the month by defending his title at the Sam Houston State Harold Funston Intercollegiate by shooting a three-round total of 210 (69-72-69). With his efforts, he led the Bearkats to the overall team title at their home tournament.
The senior from McKinney, Texas (Boyd H.S.), followed up his lone win of the month with a fifth-place finish at the SHSU/Rice Miramont Invitational.
He ended his fall campaign tied for fourth at the New Mexico State Herb Wimberly Invitational, guiding Sam Houston to a second-place team finish.
For the month, Cabra averaged 69.75 strokes in eight rounds with a low round of 67.
Sam Houston will open the spring at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, Feb. 9-10, in San Antonio.
