Four sign with Men's Golf

Sam Houston State men's golf coach, Brandt Kieschnick announces the signing of four junior golfers who will join the program in 2015.
The class is made up of three Texans – Mason Weld (Helotes, Texas), Camden DeBonis (Allen, Texas) and Dominick Gennuso (Montgomery, Texas) – and a Canadian – Logan Yanick (Courtenay, BC, Canada).
“I am very excited about this class and being able to bring these talented players to our program. All four of these players can come in and challenge the starting lineup,” Kieschnick said. “They all possess strong ball-striking skills, tough mental games and very mature short games. I'm most excited because they will join a talented team of players and help to build on our goals and standards of winning tournaments, conference championships, and being a post-season team. We are excited for the future of Bearkat Golf.”

Coach Kieschnick on Mason Weld:
“Mason is such a solid player. His fundamentals are very sound and he has a tough, mental perspective on the golf course. He never gives up and I enjoy watching him fight for every round. Mason has a very solid golf swing that will not leave him and he has worked hard to build a repetitive golf swing that will not change much. His short game is very sharp as well and he has the ability to shoot low scores in a very easy manner. Mason has competed at the highest level and will help us continue to play well.”

Coach Kieschnick on Camden DeBonis:
“Camden is an extremely talented player and had a really good summer in 2014. He was in contention in some of the state's biggest junior events this summer and went on a five-week stretch of not finishing outside the top 10. He knows how to get his rounds under par and keep himself in contention with chances to win golf tournaments. This is evident in his most recent high school win, shooting 10-under par for two rounds. He has a maturity on the golf course that bodes well for our program. He thinks through each shot and doesn't let emotion get the best of him. Camden knows how to play the game and I expect him to make an impact on our team next fall.”
Dominick Gennuso

Coach Kieschnick on Logan Yanick:
“Logan comes to us with the most national junior golf experience. As a junior in 2013, Logan narrowly missed the Canadian National Junior Team and has spent most of his junior career ranked in the top 10 in Canada for his class. Logan possesses a fluid golf swing and can take it low. As a junior, he posted numerous rounds in the 60's in Canada's National tournaments. He has a very calm demeanor on the golf course and his success and experience at the national level will help us win Division-1 Championships.”
