Women Finish Seventh at McNeese State

BROUSSARD, La. -- The Sam Houston State women's golf team finished in seventh place of the 18-team field after the third round was cancelled due to weather at the Le Triomphe Invitational hosted by McNeese State.
Freshman Paige Nelson placed third after firing a first-round 72 and a second round 77 on the par-72, 6,226 yard course. Nelson was just eight strokes back of the leader Alison Knowles from Louisiana-Monroe.
ULM led the way and was six strokes ahead of Houston Baptist in second. Grand Canyon finished third and Lamar was fourth while McNeese State and Stephen F. Austin tied for fifth.
Alisa White tied for 15th after shooting 77-76. Brooke Fouts was tied for 43rd (78-82), Nicole Budnik tied for 59th (82-82) and Abigayle Corson was tied for 73rd (82-86).
The third and final round was scheduled to tee off at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning before being cancelled because of the weather conditions.
