
Seniors play final home matches this weekend

Imka Jagau, Natalie Petaia and Kayla Stevenson will be playing in their final dual matches for the Sam Houston women's tennis team this weekend.
The Bearkats play Southland Conference contests with Incarnate Word Friday and Abilene Christian Saturday. First serve for both dual matches this weekend at the McAdams Tennis Center is 11 a.m.
All three seniors have been vital parts of the Sam Houston women's tennis program both on and off the court the past four years. The trio has see action in more than 65 dual matches during their careers.
Each of the trio will complete their Bearkat careers with their names imprinted in the SHSU tennis record book.
Petaia and Stevenson both are from Queensland in Australia. Petaia ranks No. 6 in all-time singles victories at Sam Houston with 55 in her career. She stands 10th in career doubles wins with all partners with a total of 49. Stevenson ranks No. 18 in career doubles victories with 35.
Jagau, who came to Sam Houston from Windhoek, Namibia, has totaled 39 singles victories and 43 wins in doubles during her four years as a Bearkat. Those totals rank her 13th in SHSU career doubles and 17th in Bearkat career singles wins.
All three seniors have been leaders in the class room as well.
The women's tennis team led all 17 Bearkat sports teams with its overall fall semester grade point average of 3.51. Stevenson owns a 3.75 overall GPA as a health major. Petaia sports a 3.63 overall GPA as a mass communications major. Jagau has posted a 3.44 overall GPA majoring in international business.
