Paige Nelson in third at Southland Golf

Paige Nelson carded the low round of the day to move up to third place in the individual medalist standings to highlight action Tuesday for Sam Houston State at the 14th annual Southland Conference Golf Championships.
Nelson posted four birdies including two on the 17th and 18th hole to fire a two-under 70. She stands tied for third with Taylor Stockton of Lamar and Jessica White of Stephen F. Austin with a 36-hole total of 150.
Central Arkansas continues to lead the team competition with a 36-hole score of 301-301 -- 602. Lamar carded the low round of the tournament thus far with a 296 second round to trail the Bears by only one stroke at 307-296 -- 603. Stephen F. Austin is in third place with a 311-298 -- 609 total.
Houston Baptist stands in fourth at 312-304—616 followed by Sam Houston in fifth 316-305—621, McNeese State 319-305 – 624, A&M-Corpus Christi 323-320 – 643 and Incarnate Word 339-315 – 654.
Other Sam Houston individual scores and standings are Sarah Black 14th 79-76 – 155, Alisa White 18th 77-80 – 157, Celesto Lo 30th 80-81 – 161 and Nicole Budnik 34th 84-79 – 163.
Malin Senneryd of Central Arkansas leads the individual standings with a 73-73 – 146 card. Her teammate Brenda Gonzalez is in second with a 72-76 – 148 total.
The final round of the women's championships is Wednesday.
