Bearkat Trio Named Golf All-Southland

Paige Nelson, Alisa White and Sarah Black of Sam Houston all have been named to the 2015 All-Southland Conference women's golf team.
Nelson, a sophomore from Farmer's Branch / Creekview, was a first team all-league selection. She finished fourth in the Southland Conference Championships held April 13-15 in McKinney.
Nelson led the Bearkats with a 74.46 stroke average this season, finishing in the top 10 in seven tournaments. She won the Louisiana-Monroe Fred Marx Invitational at Bayou Desiard Country Club and was the runner-up at the Oral Roberts Bob Hurley Shootout in Tulsa.
White received second team all-Southland recognition. For the season, the senior from Hereford carded a 75.79 stroke average. She finished first at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic and posted five other top 10 tournament performances.
Black is an honorable mention selection for this year's All-Southland group. The freshman from Andrews was an 11th place finisher at the Southland Conference Championships. She had three other top 10 performances including a first place at the Islander Classic. Her stroke average for the year was 76.54.
Nineteen Sam Houston women have earned Southland All-Conference honors in the 14 seasons that the league has awarded a women's golf championship. White is a repeat all-league performer after earned All-Southland and league “Newcomer of the Year” honors last season.
