Kats trail by two after 36 at Jim West Classic

The Sam Houston men's golf stands two strokes out of first place after 36 holes at the Texas State Jim West Intercollegiate Monday. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday on the 7,205-yard par 72 course at Wolfdancer Golf Club in Bastrop.
Saint Mary's stands atop the tournament standings with a seven-under team total of 288-281--569. The Bearkats led after the first 18 with a 282 total and followed up with a second round 289 for a five-under score of 571.
Zach Cabra produced the Kats' low 36-hole score with a five-under par scorecard of 70-69—139. Blake Pugh of SFA and Pep Angles of Central Arkansas are tied for the individual lead six-under totals of 138.
Other Sam Houston results for the day included Andrew Ertel (6th) 69-72—141, Jake McCrory (17th) 70-75—145, J. T. Taylor (35th) 75-73—148 and Logan Boatner (35th) 73-75—148.
The Texas State tournament is the last regular season event for the Bearkats before heading to McKinney for the Southland Conference championships in two weeks. The SHSU men are defending Southland champions.
