
Kats in 10th after opening 36 in Denver

Sam Houston State freshman Mason Weld posted a pair of 1-over, 71's during the opening two rounds at Colorado's Mark Simpson Invitational on Monday to rank tied for 12th among 75 competitors, helping the Bearkats to a 10th-place team score of 29-over, 589 among 12 teams.
Missouri-Kansas City heads into tomorrow's final 18 holes from Boulder Country Club, atop the leaderboard at 3-over, 563. Meanwhile, Wyoming's Kamrin Allen, Missouri-Kansas City's Antoine Rozner and Houston Baptist's Val Almendarez are tied for first at 1-under, 139.
Sam Houston sophomore Jake McCrory will enter his final day in a tie for 33rd at 6-over, 146. McCrory touted particular success on the par-5 second, eagling the hole both times around. No other player or team recorded more than one eagle during the opening 36.
Junior Andrew Ertel, who earned his best collegiate finish in second two weeks ago in Hattiesburg, Miss., is in a tie for 57th at 12-over, 152, after a challenging second round pushed the top seed down from a tie in 27th.
Redshirt freshmen Logan Yanick and Jesse Massengale, each moved up the leaderboard after their first rounds, and sit tied for 66th at 14-over, 154.
