
Sam Houston heads to Arlington This Weekend

The No. 4 ranked Sam Houston women's bowling team will look to follow up an outstanding runner-up performance at the Arkansas State Mid-Winter Classic two weeks ago with another strong performance in their second spring semester tournament this Friday through Sunday.
The Bearkats will be one of 10 top 25 teams competing in the Prairie View A&M Invitational this weekend. The event is being held at the International Training and Research Center in Arlington.
The field includes No. 1 Arkansas State, No. 2 Nebraska, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 8 Stephen F. Austin, 10 Maryland-Eastern Shore, #11 North Carolina A&T, No. 17 Monmouth, No. 19 Tulane and host No. 21 Prairie View.
The Kats enter the tournament with a 58-25 overall dual match record.
The Bearkats played in five major tournaments during October and November. Sam Houston won the Tulane Invitational, was the runner-up as host of the TRACK Kat Klash in Houston, placed fourth at the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawk Classic, fifth at the New Jersey Jamboree and compiled an 8-6 record at Nebraska's Big Red Classic in which no overall team championship was awarded.
Janine Kuwahara leads Sam Houston is total pins following this fall's action in traditional team play. Kuwahara owns a 209.25 average. Other Bearkat averages include Heather Penatzer (204.46), Anna Groce (200.83), Carrie Hopkinson (198.65) and Erin Brown (187.86).
The Prairie View A&M Invitational will feature five total pinfall baker matches on Friday and five traditional team games on Saturday. Total pin counts from the first two days will set the pairings for best-of-seven baker bracket play to decide the tournament championship on Sunday.
