Tennis Hosts South Dakota State Sunday

With two weeks left before the start of Southland Conference action, the Sam Houston women's tennis team plays host to South Dakota State Sunday at 1 p.m. at the McAdams Tennis Center.
“It's another opportunity for the team to get better,” Bearkat head coach Jim Giachino said. “We saw some high quality play at SMU last weekend. We're looking to develop the mindset that we can compete with anyone if we play our game.”
The Sam Houston women have won three of their first five dual matches, defeating LSU-Alexandria, Prairie View A&M and Montana State. South Dakota State brings a 2-3 record into Huntsville. The Jackrabbits are taking a tour of Texas this weekend, taking on Incarnate Word and Texas-Permian Basin in San Antonio on Friday and Saturday before coming to Huntsville.
The Bearkats will close out the non-conference portion of their schedule next weekend in Arlington, facing Missouri State and Texas-Arlington. Southland play begins on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27 and 28, with home matches against Southeastern Louisiana and New Orleans.
Admission is free to Sam Houston home women's tennis dual matches.
