Men's golfers finish 9th in season opener

The Sam Houston men's golfers equaled the best round of the day on Tuesday at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, shooting a 4-under, 280 to finished the 15-team tournament in ninth.
Jake McCrory was consistent over the three rounds, saving his best for last, shooting a 69 on Tuesday to earn a top 10, finishing ninth in the tournament. The best round of the day went to Andrew Ertel, who shot his second 68 of the event, finishing in 22nd place at 2-over on the 6,902 yard course at Hattiesburg Country Club in Mississippi.
Mason Weld shot an even-par 71 on Tuesday to finish 17th at 1-over for the tournament. Also playing for the Kats, Noah Steel (64th place, 9-over par), Dominick Gennuso (80th, 18-over) and William Holcomb (74th, 13-over).
The Kats will be back in action next week when they head to Connecticut to play in the Hartford Hawn Invitational.
