Kats Sit Ninth After Day One in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – After one day of action at Meadowbrook Country Club, the Sam Houston State Bearkat women's golf team stands ninth among 17 teams at the Bob Hurley Shootout following an opening-round 315 on Monday morning.
All but one player in the 90-player field finished above par on a tough opening round with Hanna Alberto and Heather Shake each carding a 77 to pace the Kats and place in a tie for 19th overall. In all, the Bearkats trail tournament leader Lamar by 17 strokes heading into Tuesday's action and is two back of Utah Valley and Wichita State, who are tied for seventh overall.
Gianti Mahardhika stands in a tie for 39th after turning in an 80 on the Par 71 course, while Kari Bush rounded out the Bearkat scoring with an 81 of her own to put her in a tie for 47th place. Jenna Phillips will enter Tuesday's final round in 56th place after finishing with an 82.
The Bearkats will close out the Bob Hurley Shootout on Tuesday morning before returning home to host the Bearkat Women's Invitational on Oct. 3-4 at Raven Nest Golf Club.
